Abstract
This dataset provides the Duration Metrics table for the NGA-West-2 records. Each record is identified by the RSN key, which corresponds to the identical key in the NGA-West2 Database (Ancheta TD, Darragh RB, Stewart JP, et al. NGA-West2 Database. Earthquake Spectra. 2014;30(3):989-1005. doi:10.1193/070913EQS197M).
More detailed information about the NGA-West2 database can also be found in PEER 2013/03 – PEER NGA-West2 Database , by: Timothy D. Ancheta, Robert B. Darragh, Jonathan P. Stewart, Emel Seyhan, Walter J. Silva, Brian S.J. Chiou, Katie E. Wooddell, Robert W. Graves, Albert R. Kottke, David M. Boore, Tadahiro Kishida, and Jennifer L. Donahue (https://apps.peer.berkeley.edu/publications/peer_reports/reports_2013/webPEER-2013-03-Ancheta.pdf).
The Duration Metrics dataset contains, for each record component (H1,H2,V):
Total Arias Intensity
Time for 19 specified durations (5% … 100% of AI)
Duration for 19 specified durations (5%-10% … 5%-100% of AI)
Arias Intensity for 19 specified durations (5%-10% … 5%-100% of AI)
Arias Intensity, AA, was calculated using the following algorithm:
for ii=2:NP
AA(ii) = AA(ii-1)+(abs(A(ii))^2 + abs(A(ii-1))^2)*(T(ii)-T(ii-1))/2;
end
where A and T are the acceleration and time series vectors. The acceleration of the NGA time series is in units of g and the time is in units of seconds.
