The International Workshop for Autonomous System Safety (IWASS 2025) is a joint effort by the B. John Garrick Institute for the Risk Sciences at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and the University of Stuttgart.
IWASS is a by invitation-only event that gathers key experts on autonomous systems safety from industry, academia, and regulatory authorities. IWASS aims to identify and propose solutions for common challenges related to safety, reliability, and security (SRS) of autonomous systems from an interdisciplinary and cross-industry perspective. IWASS envisions a future where autonomous systems enrich human life while upholding the highest standards of safety, reliability, and security.
IWASS 2025 will be held in Florida, USA in collaboration with RAMS 2025.
The International Workshop on Autonomous Systems Safety will be held in person on January 25th and 26th, 2025 at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida, United States. The workshop will kick off at 12:30 p.m. on January 25th and finish at 6:00 p.m. on the 26th, ensuring we will have time packed with insightful discussions and invaluable networking opportunities.
In our 6th IWASS workshop, the spotlight will be on exploring the safety and risk implications of the recent advancements in autonomous systems. This encompasses a broad spectrum of topics, including the successful deployment of autonomous systems factoring infrastructure challenges, accident analysis, safety cases, and lessons learned.
Our discussions will extend to crucial facets such as human-autonomous system interactions, considerations for operating under dynamically evolving conditions, and the critical aspects of trustworthiness and explainability in safety-critical decisions, and AI-Autonomy integration. In addition, discussions will address navigating regulatory challenges and the emergence of new standards, as well as the potential challenges faced by the next generation of engineers.
The 71st Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium (RAMS 2025) is a world-renowned annual symposium alternating between east and west coast areas of the United States and has been continually conducted successfully since 1954. Its purpose is to promote the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety professions and provide training, education, recognition, and advancement of these professions.
An IWASS Panel will be held during RAMS 2025 to showcase our discussions to a larger audience.
